Against Healthcare = racism?
I've been hearing in the news, especially on the major news networks that the healthcare protest, and the actions of the Congressman John Wilson during the Presidents speech on healthcare were based on racism. At my job, I have heard many people make similar claims whenever company policy does not go their way. This kind of racism claim is made into jokes in comedy television and movies. One Republican pundit compared this to the situation that G.W. Bush was in following 9/11 and the rumors that he was directly involved. The Republican party was very clear that they had understood that it was not mainstream Democrats who were making the outrageous claims and that it was just extremism at its worst. I am wondering do mainstream Democrats really believe this claim about racism, I voted for Obama, but because I do not agree with his healthcare plan, am I also a racist. This is a subject that needs to be brought up and dealt with. I don't consider myself a racist, but I also did not necessarilly disagree with Congressman Wilson. We consider ourselves liberal enough to have a minority as our President, but not liberal enough to question his actions? This whole situation should be considered, debated, and most of all dealt with so we as a nation can put this behind us and move forward on more important issues like real healthcare debate, and economic recovery.
